Gemstone Information

NATURAL refers to any gemstone that was formed in nature, over many
years, that basically has nothing to do with any human intervention, aside
from finding it in the ground and mining it and cutting it into a
gemstone ready to be put into jewelry.

GENUINE also refers to this, BUT, GENUINE can also mean any NATURAL
gemstone that was found in the ground, mined, and then perhaps is HEAT TREATED
or IRRADIATED to bring out its best color and clarity. For instance,
basically ALL sapphires, rubies, tanzanites, blue topaz, and aquamarines
(etc, etc) are all NATURAL gemstones that have been heat treated to bring out their best colors. These treatments are 100% acceptable, widely used, and has been
for literally hundreds of years. These treatments are fully disclosed
by the jewelry industry. (Irradiation of gems by the way is totally
harmless, stable and permanent, just like heat treating.)

LAB CREATED or just CREATED, also SYNTHETIC- refers to gemstone s that
are COMPLETELY MAN-MADE in labs. ***These gems have EXACTLY the SAME chemical composition as their NATURAL counterparts do , it's just that
all the ingredients were mixed together and grown in a lab, for a
fraction of the time and cost, and always perfect results.

SIMULATED gemstones are just gems or even crystal or glass that is made
to look like other gems, - you can get blue colored glass of just the
right shade, and cut it just like a A faceted gem, and call it
SIMULATED SAPPHIRE. If you said it was a real or synthetic sapphire, you
would be lying and breaking the law! Besides which, simulations, (or
IMITATIONS) like glass or crystal are pretty much softer and more easily
chipped and broken than the gem being imitated.

CUBIC ZIRCON is a specific kind of gemstone that is LAB CREATED and
that actually DOES NOT exist in nature. CZs are just CZs-NOT created,
natural or anything else. CZs come in ALL KINDS of colors and can
look like diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, pink tourmaline,
amethyst, blue topaz?. A simple test of the gemstone will easily
identify it as CZ or something else.
